City of Tulsa Animal Services prepares for move to new shelter

Deputy director Colton Jones says he's hoping to clear out the current facility as much as possible before the big move, which has been at capacity for more than a year. City of Tulsa Animal Services is preparing to move into a new facility, which has been at capacity for over a year. The new facility will be 8,000 square feet larger than the existing one and will offer dedicated space for meet-and-greets with animals, less stressful kennel space, secure garage and generator power. Deputy director Colton Jones hopes to clear out the current facility as much as possible before the big move. The current space has been overcrowded with 150 to 175 animals inside, and several more outside. Jones is urging the community to adopt or foster from the shelter, which is the only municipal shelter in Tulsa.
