TULSA, Okla. — A major power outage has left nearly 16,000 customers without power in north Tulsa.

According to Public Service Company of Oklahoma, a piece of equipment on a transmission line failed. They have crews on the scenes of each outage to assess the situation.

In the meantime, PSO said they're working on rerouting as many customers as possible. There's currently a 2 p.m. estimated restoration time.

Tulsa Public Schools released a statement saying some of their school communities are affected.

"We are aware of a major power outage impacting significant portions of North Tulsa, including many of our school communities. We are working with the city and Public Service Company of Oklahoma to understand the scope and timeline for service restoration. We will keep you updated as we learn more."
