The Dawgs led by three at halftime but were plagued by turnovers throughout the game, resulting in a 19-point lead for OBU, who outscored SWOSU 40-28 after halftime. The Bison's victory marked the Dawgs' 1,000th career point, with Smith's three-pointer opening the scoring. Despite a strong performance from the Bison, SWOSu managed to maintain their lead with just two points in the final six possessions. The team's final score was 44% overall (23-52), including 9-of-27 from beyond the arc, while OBU was held to 40% from the field (25-62) and 35% from three-point line.

WEATHERFORD – SWOSU Men's Basketball dropped the first home GAC game of the season to Oklahoma Baptist, 74-65.

The Dawgs led by three at halftime but were plagued by turnovers the entire way. They finished with a season high 20 in a physical game from start to finish. Those turnovers got cashed into 19 points for OBU, 13 of which came in the second half. The Bison outscored SWOSU 40-28 after the intermission.

Entering the second half, SWOSU's lead hovered between one and two possessions for nearly 10 minutes of game time before roles switched and OBU began to lead and hold control of the game.

Trailing by five points with a little over two minutes to play in the game, knocked down a three ball out of a timeout and had SWOSU knocking at the door for a comeback before an immediate answer by the Bison pushed the margin back to five with 1:36 to play.

SWOSU scored just two more points on a pair of foul shots in the final six possessions while OBU continued to hit their free throws which iced the game.

Final numbers showed the Dawgs at 44% shooting overall (23-52) including 9-of-27 from beyond the arc. SWOSU finished 10-for-17 at the foul line, just 59%.

Meanwhile, OBU was held to 40% from the field (25-62) and 35% from the three-point line with six makes. They got to the foul line 24 times and made 18 of them, a 75% clip.

Four Bulldogs finished in double figures led by 15. was right behind him with 14 points and a team high eight rebounds. For a second straight game, dished out seven assists while adding another 10 points offensively.

Smith's three-pointer to open the game's scoring marked his 1,000th career point, having scored the first 73 points of his career at Emporia State before compiling the rest at SWOSU. He is now 62 points away from joining , Damion Thornton, Clarke Hale, and as players who have totaled at least 1,000 while playing for SWOSU in the Division II era.

Following the loss, SWOSU drops to an even 6-6 in league play. They'll get two more chances at home next week against Arkansas-Monticello and Southern Arkansas to close out the four-game homestand.
