Zander Lyda obituary: A 12-year-old girl stabs her 9-year-old brother to death. A juvenile detention center has taken into custody a 12-year-old girl responsible for stabbing her 9-year-old brother to death, police say. The incident happened Thursday at a community building in St. Thomas Square, south of downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Tulsa police said Friday the children’s parents were sleeping upstairs when their 12-year-old daughter woke them up to inform them of the assault. In a tragic incident, a 9-year-old boy, Zander Lyda, was stabbed to death by his older sister.

The knife attack happened just before midnight Thursday at his home in the St. Thomas Square neighborhood of downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma. Authorities were alerted to the disturbing incident and provided details in a statement released on Friday.

The parents were sleeping upstairs when their 12-year-old daughter woke them up to tell them about the stabbing, police said. City firefighters and paramedics immediately performed CPR and took the boy to the hospital. Although he underwent surgery, he succumbed to his injuries around 2.30am on Saturday, police said.

The 12-year-old girl was detained at the Juvenile Justice Family Center in Tulsa after the incident and remained there until Friday, according to police. In the recorded video, the 12-year-old girl’s hands were cuffed, which eventually led police to the knife used in the attack. She explained that when she was done, she threw the knife out the second story window.

April Lyda reappeared at the door, throwing up her hands in despair and asking her daughter, “Did you use a knife?”

In response, the 12-year-old burst into tears, expressing deep regret: “Mom, I’m sorry. I’m sorry; I do not know what happened. The pike-perch’s mother shouted, “I have to be with him. Go.” The girl apologized again and looked up at the officer guarding her.

“I’m sorry. I don’t know what happened. I don’t know what happened. I don’t know what happened,” she said. The specific accusations surrounding her detention have not been disclosed, nor is it clear if the girl was involved in the case.Legal counsel accepted.
