What the BBB says you need to know before hiring companies offering AI services
As artificial intelligence takes off in the business world, be careful to not let scammers take your money offering to do some of the marketing for your company. The Better Business Bureau (BBB) has warned that companies offering AI services may overpromise while underdelivering on what they can do. The BBB is receiving calls from businesses trying to verify the legitimacy of these services. Amie Mitchell, CEO of the BBB of Eastern Oklahoma, recommends an ironclad contract and an attorney review to confirm the authenticity of the work offered. The agency recommends that research be done before hiring any AI services and that it's the work you truly need. If you're ever a victim of a scam, report it here.

TULSA, Okla. — As artificial intelligence takes off in the business world, be careful to not let scammers take your money offering to do some of the marketing for your company.
FOX23 explains how some may be trying to over promise while underdelivering on what they can do.
We're seeing artificial intelligence pop up just about everywhere and the Better Business Bureau (BBB) said they're getting calls from businesses seeing it too and trying to figure out if what's being offered is legit.
"We're seeing hey, pay us $10,000 a month and AI can take over your entire marketing budget. That would be nice, but it's not the way it works right now. AI just hasn't hit that level. I do expect it to, but right now the offers of what these people are pitching are not quite what is able to be accomplished,” Amie Mitchell, CEO of the BBB of Eastern Oklahoma
She said too many times scammers will promise their company is capable of doing the work, they'll get your money and you're left with nothing.
Here's her advice to avoid losing money and possibly losing part of your business.
“In this situation, I would highly recommend getting an iron clad contract. Even making sure in this particular case that your attorney reviews to see what you're really getting into because this is such a new industry. You really want to be careful to make sure that you're not signing away any rights of your company over to the marketing company or company offering the AI services. You really have to be careful,” Mitchell said.
The BBB said you really need to do your research before hiring a company offering any AI services, make sure they can do the work they're promising and that it's work you truly need.
